#GrowGreatKids A Healthy & Filling Breakfast Option For Your Kids
Do you ever come across ideas that are just worth spreading? Like Blueband, how can you keep such an amazing product to yourself? I am one of those who always want to share good news and great tips with people I value and that is why I want to tell you about the new and improved Blueband. Blueband has always been great. We all grew up spreading it on our bread. What was “B without BB” remember that slogan? B without BB is like a train without an engine. There was no bread without spreading some Blueband.
I have always loved to sleep. Me and sleep are the bestest and truest of friends. To date I love to sleep but unfortunately life does not allow me to be with my one true love as much as I would like. When I was younger, say around 10 years old or younger, I was always the last to get up say at 10 or 11 am and each morning I would find all the bread in the house had been consumed by my brothers. One day I came up with a genius plan. I would start sleeping with my share of bread. I would wrap it in paper and put it under the pillow where no one could steal it. In the morning it was all crumbly but I would still go and slather my Blueband (why would I be stingy with blueband) and have it with some tea. OOOH the small pleasures in life.
I wish I grew up in this day and age when blueband is fortified with over 7 yes SEVEN vitamins. As if that is not enough last week Unilever launched a new blueband that has Omega 3 & 6 in a move to help mums grow healthier kids. These two fatty acids are important or the body as they act as an anti inflammatory, prevent heart diseases, diabetes and also certain types of cancer. How I wish I had all these when I growing up. Those days we’d get our Omega 3 & 6 from oily medicine that did not taste so good. Now your children can skip that and get the Omega 3 & 6 from blueband. In fact there are two types of fatty acids that the body can not produce for itself and you have to get it from food, and blueband has brought it right to your breakfast table.
Children need 2 to 3 times more nutrients to develop their brain than adults but unfortunately they can not eat as much. As a mum it is therefore important to give nutrient dense healthy meals to your kids. To do this you have to create snacks that are health, tasty and still nutrient dense. There are so many things you can do with blueband but here is a quick on that can help your children get a whole lot of nutrition.Like good fat which apart from giving the health benefits I mentioned earlier they also ferry vitamin A, D, E, and K around the body. Here is a quick and easy snack to serve your children. Its pretty easy all you need is:
1. Blueband
2. A good bread. I used a whole wheat bread with a sour dough starter
3. raw honey
4. banana
5. African Kaya’s almond butter
This breakfast snack has
* Essential fatty acids from blueband and the almond butter
*Carbohydrates and fiber from the whole wheat bread and the almond butter
*Good bacteria from the sourdough starter in the bread
*Vitamins from the blueband, raw honey banana and almonds
Etc etc a perfect way to have a nutrient dense tasty snack your tots.
A good bread is essential as having something with little nutrients will beat the purpose of having a nutrient dense snack.
I then cut the bread and warm it, warming is a personal preference, then spread some blueband on it then slice some bananas on it. After that I drizzle some honey and almond butter (any nut butter will do) just a little of both as again we do not want it to be too calorie dense
and Voila!! i promise your kids will eat the healthy bread if you serve it this way.
