Lactation cookies
HIYA! How are you this fine Wednesday? I am doing great. Do you follow my motherhood journey on FB? I write about my highs and lows on The Mothership with Mama Muthoni, please like and follow the page 🙂
Last Friday I was feeling so frustrated as a mummy. My daughter, Muthoni, has been refusing to breastfeed. I had lots of milk and did not bother to pump each time she refused. I would just get milk from the freezer and feed her. If you know anything about breast milk production you know it is a supply and demand thing. So low demand (baby not feeding and no expressing) led to low supply. So I was stuck with a dwindling freezer stash, I actually had only 2 days worth of milk yet I used to have at least 2 weeks worth and low supply. Very frustrating, but talking about it made me feel better and the support I got from fellow mums especially in my inbox was so heart warming.
I have now started pumping I am for 6x a day and I bought brewers yeast on Monday to just try and see if it works. I made a smoothie then one of the Foodies Club Members, Hannah Murage, inboxed me a lactation cookies recipe. Bless your heart honey. I tried it the same night.
The cookies are super easy to make, I made a few adjustments added chia and linseeds and a few other things. They are tasty but have a slight bitter taste in the end due to the brewers yeast but so worth it. Hannah swears by them, says they made her a freshian LOL. I noticed a definite increase in my supply by the next morning. Try and come tell us what you think. What do you use to increase your supply?
