Strawberry Chocolate Xmas Tree
Pintrest is oooooh so PINTERESTING!!! I just love the things that you find on there. You should join it. I found this tree pinned by one of the people I follow and I knew that I just had to try it. I got the recipe/ instructions from Can’t Stop Making Things it’s a very interesting site, you should stop by.
The original recipe asked for chocolate chips but because foodie in the desert is all about making things more accessible and easier for all of you to make I used normal Cadbury’s milk chocolate. I reckon if you used chocolate chips or dark chocolate it would really be tasty but this is more expensive and less accessible to most
Don’t you just love how it looks??? It will make a great centre piece for your X-mas lunch/dinner. HAPPY MAKING!!
INGREDIENTS
- 300 gms chocolate of your choice (I used Cadbury’s milk)
- 750 gms strawberries (Make sure they vary in size, large, medium, small)
- A party hat
- Wax paper or baking parchment
- A plate or flat surface
METHOD
- Wrap the party hat with the parchment/wax paper. Fasten with tape. Fill the inside of the hat with old newspaper to make it steady and place it on a plate or cake base.
4. Now place the base of the strawberry in the chocolate then place it on the already prepared “party hat”. Make sure you start with the largest
5. Once you get to the top apply chocolate on the tip then put the remaining chocolate into a plastic bag, snip a very small hole at the corner and pipe a few stars onto a wax paper, put it into the fridge till it hardens,
6. remove from the wax paper carefully and use more extra chocolate to stick the stars onto the tree.HAPPY EATING!!!!
Foodie Penpals
So when I was going through food blogs yesterday I run into a post by a cake blogger (don’t remember the name) talking about Foodie Penpals. I got very interested on what it was all about so I read the post.So the program is currently running in the UK, Canada and Europe called. The program is sort of like the whole penpal thing of writing letters only that instead of sending letters you send food and recipes.
The program was started by linsday who blogs at The lean green bean. she started in September 2011 with just 30 participants and has grown to have over 1300 participants, 200 in UK and there is ablogger who just started it in South Africa as well.
I would love to start this in Kenya through the lady who started the program as I think its a brilliant idea for bloggers to meet each other and for readers to meet bloggers and generally increase our blogging networks. So, I need a people who are interested to start with, you don’t have to be a food blogger to join in.
The Rules are :
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is Ksh.1500. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are.
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
