Hi Guys,

HAPPY NEW YEAR! What were you guys up to during the holidays? I traveled quite a bit  went to Mombasa which Muthoni loved (my 9 months old) she had so much fan. We then went to Embu, came back to Nairobi for Xmas then to Nanyuki for a wedding.

It is a new year and most times guys try to do new things right? Well, the Mr and I go to church and date night on Wednesdays. We never used to do this before we had Muthoni coz we had lots of time to go out. so in October 2016 I decided to have our nanny sleep over once a week (she is a day nanny) so we could do church (hadn’t gone since i got Muthoni) then we could have time to go out and eat. We have been to quite a number of new restaurants. I will see how to fit them in, maybe on Thursdays when we do not manage to go out on Wednesday.

Yesterday was our second trip to Diamond Plaza (DP). I go to DP often, but always for the same things, Maru bhajia and sugar cane juice. We felt like Indian sometime in December and ended up at DP. We really enjoyed our dinner.

Location

Diamond plaza is located on the corner of masari road and 5th Parklands Ave in Parklands.

Ambience

Well DP is not one of those places you go to for a romantic dinner. It is a food court so many food outlets. The sitting is on benches and it gets a bit chilly as the place is not fully enclosed.

Service

The worst thing about DP is the waiters. They really can overwhelm you. The minute you get out of your car they come thronging to you. Sometimes even 8 of them each with a menu trying to get you to order from them.

Food

Here is what  we ate

Butter chicken from Anilz, it was nice in terms of flavour but not rich. I can get you they did not use butter. The sauce was not thick. i would have it again if i was at DP but wouldn’t drink across town to go have it. Costs Ksh 650

Palak Paneer still from another stall whose name I do not recall but the server wear green and it is not Anilz. This was super tasty. i really enjoyed it. Cost about Ksh 650 too

The mutton biriani from 9-9 mashallah stole the show though. It was just perfection. For some reason it did not have the usual biriani taste we get in all restaurants. it was completely different. The hubby smacked his lips every few seconds. It cost ksh 600

We got mutton Kebab from Bismillah bbq and it was amazing with the naan.

We went back yesterday and had the biriani again and hubby had some amazing fresh orange juice from Ruby Cold House. This jumbo glass was 350.

I had cheese naan on both occasions but one of the servers told me none of the stalls has unless they are reselling and true to his word I noticed I was resold for from chow paty. So if you’d like some just request from there directly.

Any suggestions of restaurants we should visit?
