I love out of town plans. Especially those with family and people you love. There is something about going out of town that increases the love. It’s like every Kilometer you go away from home equals the percentage degree in which love grows. Do you feel the same too?

So we went to Naivasha (Vasha) over the Easter holidays with the Mr’s family. We booked a self catering guest house that was opposite Enashipae. The place was quite decent and cost us only Ksh 20,000 per day for a 4 bedroomed house. We were 6 adults and 3 kids so it was quite the deal. We did lunch and swimming at Enashipae on the first day and one the second day we went to Sopa for the same, swimming and lunch.

We had a good time. The weather did not favour us very much as it started to rain/drizzle only 30 mins after we got there but that did not dampen our mood.

Location

Lake Naivasha Sopa lodge is located In Naivasha which is almost halfway between Nairobi and Nakuru about 45 mins to an hour drive from Nairobi. It is situated on the Moi South Lake road about  km from the turn off into Moi south lake

First Impressions, Ambiance and Deco

Well, there is nothing much to say on this. The guard at the gate was very friendly and pleasant. The drive way is well maintained. As you enter the hotel there is nothing much to write home about. The deco is just there. Nothing to wow about. We sat by the pool. They have two pools, maybe 3 depending on how you look at it. The pool area looked nice with parasols and a pool side restaurant.

Service

It being Easter Monday the place was not very busy but the service was still a bit slow. The waiter however, was very pleasant. He brought out menus and calmed us down when we made noise regarding the speed of service.

They have a swimming which they charge Ksh 500 per person. They also had a bouncing castle, horse riding and a couple of birds and Monkeys that the children would love to see.

Food and Drink

We had sodas for drinks. For lunch we had 3 different dishes. Fish, beef with veggies and rice and chicken with pesto and veggies. The fav all round was the beef. The flavour was really well developed and it was quite tender. The chicken in pesto was nice but would have been better if they used more pesto. The fish was good. Nothing to write home about.

My Take

We enjoyed our afternoon. If I am ever in Vasha I would definitely go back there.
