I had gotten to a point where I had given up on ever getting good steak outside of my home. I had been to a few restaurants but nothing had wowed me. Turns out I just hadn’t explored enough.

I ended up trying the Steak Out after it was recommended on Foodies Club. I have been to the restaurant thrice now. First time we went with the Mr and Muthoni. Muthoni was quite young maybe 3 months old. I lay a shuka on the grass and lay her as I ate. Next time I went she had become too bright  to be placed down, she had just turned 6 months and her second meal was at the steak out, she had chips and spinach. Last time was last month. We went for a family get together and food was still great. In gact the only complaint was from my mother saying it was too much meat.

Location

Steak out is located at 102 Manyani East Road in Lavington. It is the  first right turn  on James Gichuru road if you turn off from Waiyaki Way.

Ambience

The restaurant is set in an old home that was converted into a restaurant. We often sit outside as we go in the afternoons and the weather has always been great. In December when we went with a larger group we were set inside at corner which was quite nice and cosy. On the Sundays we have gone they had a bouncing castle for the kids.

Food

Like I mentioned before we have been to the Steak Out thrice. I have always had a steak. I mean you can not go to a steak house and eat anything else now can you? The first time we went I had the T-bone and the Mr had the Sirloin steak which was what the waiter had recommended. Well the sirloin steak was amazing and that is what I have had every time since.

I have had the steak with both fries and mash potatoes. Both are tasty. I have had creamed spinach and garlic spinach and I never know what to order as both are delicious. The mushroom sauce however is quite dissapointing. Probably one of the worst I have had.

I once had the passion fruit cheese cake which was a chilled cheesecake not baked. I did not like it. Cheesecake is one of my fav deserts but I struggled to eats even half of this. In December my niece had the lasagna and she did not like it, we actually had to get her something else coz it was not tasty

Price

we spend on average around Ksh 4,000 to Ksh 4,500 for 2 people for mains and drinks
