One of the things I decided to do towards the end of last year was eat out more. I am a foodie, love my food but I find that I get dissapointed quite often that I generally just end up cooking most times as I feel it is a better use of my time and money. But a few months ago I decided to try out new places and I have been pleasantly surprised. I have found some places that are quite nice and others just ok.

The Mr and I went to Charlies Bistro sometime in November. I am not sure when exactly they opened but it was sometime last year I believe. We had been seeing it since it is pretty close to home but we somewhat always ended up going to places that were further out. We had dinner there, we had a nice time.

Location

Charlies Bistro is located at South End mall at the corner of Mbagathi way and Langata road, right opposite T-mall at the round about. It is at quite an awkward place, as you come from mbagathi drive on the left then the gate will be right there.

Ambience

I loved the look and feel at Charlies. It has a very uptown relaxed feel. The dangling lights were so gorg and creative. The sitting is quite informal, they have tables with laid back seats, benches and a couple of couches. It is kinda outdoor in an indoor kind of way (LOL) it is on the rooftop I think but they created a structure, one side is completely open so it gets chilly but it is also quite pretty. The only thing I hated was that all the tables by the window were the smoking area meaning if you can’t stand the smell then you had to move. The music wasquite nice and not loud. It was purely EDM and for me who isn’t a big fun of EDM to actually enjoy that was quite surprising

Service

The Service was good. Our server helped us move from the balcony to the inside table and gave us to the server there. They treated us well and their recommendations were on point.

The Mr had lamb chops and potato wedges. The lamb was ok. Nothing to write home about but was not bad either. I’d give it a 5.5/10

I had the chicken parma. It was also nice but nothing wow about it. It was not a memorable dish. I would have made the marinara sauce more flavourful if I were them. 6/10

Now the wedges were a work of art. They had a mix of herbs and an amazing sauce that complemented the herbs. This would take me back there any day

Have any of you been there?
